6 Impressive Ways To Add WOW Factor To Your Home

Are you wanting to add wow factor to your home?

Do you want the quickest and most impressive ways to add WOW factor?

Well keep reading as I have 6 Impressive Ways To Add WOW Factor To Your Home. WOW factor is very subjective. It’s something a lot of people strive to do in their homes. Who doesn’t want friends, family and potential buyers getting excited or showing great admiration by what they see.

Creating WOW factor is a sure-fire way for your home to stand out in a crowd.  Surprise the people it’s fun. I get a thrill out of it. I write a lot about country style decorating but these ideas can certainly work in urban areas.

Creating something special takes a bit of thought. These ideas may help.

6 Impressive Ways To Add WOW Factor To Your Home

1. Paint Your Front Door A Stand Out Colour

The front door is the gateway to your home. It’s the entry to what lies await. Most homes have one so it’s worth taking the time to make it stand out.

I’m all for playing it a bit safe if you’re thinking of selling however, I firmly believe that a splash of colour won’t hinder a sale. If the right colour is chosen to enhance the rest of the home, it will invite interest and curiosity for the buyer.

You want people falling over themselves to get to the front door to see what’s inside. A standout front door will certainly impress.

So many options.

If you don’t like the idea of painting then make sure your front door is unique. Chunky timber or a fancy door knocker will create wow factor.

I saw this amazing front door on a trip to Bryon Bay. Very Impressive.

Queenslander style homes often have screen doors as the first thing people see.  There are many options available for them as well.  These doors can greatly enhance the entry to your home and create near instant WOW factor.

Even if you plan on selling your home buyers will know that it won’t take more than a couple of hours at most to change it. It shouldn’t be a deal breaker.  Just remember it must enhance the rest of the home to be impressive.

2. Invest In Large Original Pieces Of Art For Maximum Impact.

This is one way to create very impressive and instant ‘wow’ factor. I’m not a fan of mass-produced prints.  To create a unique focal point, I think large original pieces of art pack more of a punch.

There are some wonderful artists in Australia who are trying to make a living producing unique, original and simply stunning art.  Support an artist I say.  I follow some beautiful art gallery’s on Instagram and some offer excellent ways of payment.  Original art doesn’t always come cheap.

Bluethumb, Paperpear, Richard Claremont, Jumbledonline, Satchandcogallery just to name a few.

This piece of art is from Richard Claremont. It’s large and looks great above the sofa.

It’s worth investing in larger pieces for maximum impact.

Smaller pieces can look nice if done in gallery style or if placed on a smaller wall.  Be mindful as too many smaller pieces can make a space feel cluttered or small.

The thing I love about this idea is that if you sell your home it’s an investment you take with you.

3. Update Old Cushions & Décor With Modern Up To Date Homewares. Mix and Match.

New up to date cushions, homewares and books in strategic positions will add a modern edge and create ‘wow’ factor to your home.

Doing this is cheaper and easier than replacing sofas. And much more fun.  New can be mixed with old it’s just how you do it.Old and NewThe most important thing is whatever colour you choose, be consistent throughout and put pieces thoughtfully together to create a cohesive, mismatched look.

Add a modern vase as a centre piece.  If strapped for cash make cushions yourself with beautiful fabric.  Nothing like custom or handmade cushions for impressive ‘wow’ factor.

This eclectic mix looks fabulous with a mix of old and new. The book Made for Living has excellent ideas.

4. Custom Lampshades

Recover old lampshades. I didn’t like paying for this service so I did a course and went a little crazy covering old, worn lampshades. I must note that I still use a professional for expensive fabric purchases as my skill set is beginner level.  But the course was fun and anyone can give this a go!

Lighting is one thing that often gets overlooked however it’s very important for ‘wow’ factor.  I think every room should have lamps. Sometimes the more the merrier. Handmade or custom-made lamps really add originality to a room.  If you would like something truly stunning try Sach & Cornish in Brisbane.

5. Decorative Feature Wall

A feature wall can add energy to a room and create impressive ‘wow’ factor.  One of the best ways to add texture, colour and contrast is to use wallpaper. I recently decorated a large old homestead on a Longreach property.  The bathroom lacked size, and the design ideas were limited due to working around existing plumbing.  The ventilation was good due to a large window.

The idea was to use wallpaper to create ‘wow’ factor. What do you think?

Black and White Wallpaper

Amazon have some beautiful country plaid wallpapers that would complement a country home. There are some beautiful wallpapers out there and a lot of choice.  My advice for wallpaper is to stick with a pattern that is more on the classic side. It won’t date as quickly. These stripes are stunning and can be purchased here.

I had an ugly pantry wall in my country kitchen that was functional but stood out and was the first thing seen when entering the kitchen. I had to fix it!  For wow factor I added some black and white gingham wallpaper and turned it into a feature. The guinea fowl art was actually painted by a 12 year old if you can believe it. Such talent.

6. Add an Ornate Mirror-WOW!

Add an ornate mirror for a luxurious look. Natural light will bounce around the room, a simple hack that makes small rooms look bigger.  Views are also reflected making impressive ‘wow’ factor.

Make sure you purchase a large mirror for a small space and don’t clutter rooms with too many small mirrors. The small mirrors will reflect things you may not wish to see.

A mirror is a great idea for a focal point and placed against a wall on the floor can really dress up a room.Fancy MirrorI’m renovating an old bathrom soon and just purchased this gold framed mirror to jazz it up and create ‘wow’ factor. Exciting! Will keep you posted. Good luck and have fun with these 6 impressive ways to add ‘WOW’ factor to your home. Please read more.
